The headlines are all about steel, batteries and critical minerals. But behind every new project announced for Collie is something much more familiar: people.

Engineers. Electricians. Construction crews. Project managers. Tradies of all kinds. The people who will spend weeks, months or even years helping build the next chapter of Collie's future.

That future is becoming increasingly real.

Australia's first low-emissions steel mill and Western Australia's first steel recycling mill have moved another step closer, with Generation Steel of WA securing all approvals needed to complete its feasibility phase. Nearby, Magnium has officially opened its pilot plant, a first for Western Australia and a major step towards producing sustainable magnesium for the defence and automotive industries.

International Graphite has also commenced feasibility work on its Battery Anode Material Facility, while Tesla's battery remanufacturing facility is under construction and will service, repair and renew Megapack batteries once complete.

Collectively, these projects represent hundreds of millions of dollars in investment and form part of the WA Government's commitment to diversify Collie's economy beyond coal. More than $662 million has now been invested in Collie's industrial transition, supporting new industries, infrastructure and workforce training.

As Premier Roger Cook recently said:

"These major job-creating projects are positioning Collie as the centre of WA's plans to become a renewable energy powerhouse."

For us, that's exciting.

Not because our rooms will be busier, but because we'll have the opportunity to welcome another generation of workers to Collie. Every worker represents a family, a career and another person contributing to the future of this remarkable town.

We've been part of Collie's workforce story for almost two decades. We know that after a long shift, what people value most isn't fancy extras. It's a comfortable room. A hot meal. A friendly face. Somewhere to switch off before doing it all again tomorrow.

Every project starts with people.

The surveyors, contractors, operators, apprentices and specialists who spend time away from home turning plans into reality.

We're proud to play a small part in that journey by giving them somewhere comfortable to rest, recharge and feel right at home.
